Taiwan’s National Central Library (NCL) inaugurated the 49th international Taiwan Resource Collaboration for Chinese Studies section at the University of Pittsburgh in the U.S. on Tuesday.
The University of Pittsburgh libraries maintain collections totaling more than 4.4 million volumes. The school, which was founded in 1787, also has an East Asian Languages and Literatures department as well as an Asian Studies Center. The partnership aims to act as a learning and research platform, expanding the scope of global cooperation and furthering exchanges amongst the academic community.
Through the new program, the NCL will grant the Taiwan Resource Collaboration for Chinese Studies access to all of their digital resources, and the University of Pittsburgh will assist in co-organizing events such as lectures and exhibitions.
NCL Director-General Wang Han-ching (王涵青) completed the partnership signing along with Librarian and Director of the University Library System Kornelia Tancheva and East Asian Library Head Zhu Runxiao (朱潤曉) this Monday. The parties expressed that long-term mutually beneficial cooperation will be the focus moving forward.
