Anti-corruption prosecutors assembled to raid Ko Wen-je’s (柯文哲) residence this Friday morning. The officers rang the doorbell for around five minutes, unable to enter, until Ko eventually cooperated.

The search was also extended to the Taiwan People’s Party (TPP) headquarters, where the prosecution authorities in white seized relevant documents for further investigation.

Taipei City Councilor Angela Ying (應曉薇) was also detained this week amid rumors that she was preparing to leave Taiwan under suspicion of receiving NT$47.4 million (US$1.4 million) to relax regulations for the Core Pacific City mall project floor area ratio. The Taipei District Court has ordered Ying, Ying's assistant Wu Shun-min (吳順民), and business tycoon Sheen Ching-jing (沈慶京) to be taken into custody during the corruption investigation.

The TPP responded to questioning, expressing their intentions to fully cooperate with the investigation, and encouraging the public to allow suspects a fair trial before jumping to conclusions.
