The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced the recall vote for Keelung City Mayor George Hsieh (謝國樑) on Tuesday. The vote is set for Sunday, October 13. Hsieh came under scrutiny from civic groups earlier this year regarding allegations of abuse of power relating to a shopping mall real estate transaction.

According to the CEC's timeline, a televised recall explanation session will be held from October 3 to October 12, with the number of eligible voters announced before October 9. The vote will take place on October 13 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with results expected to be announced on October 18.

Under the Public officials Election and Recall Act, Hsieh will be removed from office if at least 25% of eligible Keelung residents vote in favor of the recall and the number of favorable votes exceeds those opposed.
