When the voice of a 17th century Dutch boy can be heard coming from the walls of his Chinese medicine shop, Yi-feng calls up his friend David, a blind historian with a particular sensitivity to sounds. David brings his wife Janine and their two children down to Tainan for the summer as he investigates these mysterious voices.
The discovery of something unusual in the walls of the shop sends the whole family on a wild chase through the 1600s when the Dutch occupied Formosa (now known as Taiwan).
