In this episode, Rti Hosts Amanda Stephens and Joey Chou sit down with Documentary Filmmaker and Affiliated Research Fellow Centre for Austronesian Studies University of Central Lancashire Tobie Openshaw.

Tobie recently published a book-- "Seeking the Koko’ Ta’ay: Investigating the Origins of Little People Myths in Taiwan and Beyond" centering his and other's research into the Taiwanese SaSiyat people's "Koko Ta'ay", a foundational myth for the SaSiyat tribe about a possibly mythical group of little people. Amanda and Joey sit down to talk on the origin of the story, the ways in which it connects to the global figure of the "little peoples" in mythology and folklore, how this story and/or belief has shaped the lives of the SaSiyat peoples today, and the socio-politics of researching (as an outsider) the folklore and traditions of indigenous peoples.
