Attending the Yimin Festival celebrating Hakka culture in Hsinchu this Thursday, President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) prayed for “Yimin Ye’s” (義民爺) blessing of peace, prosperity, and good weather.

France’s higher education sector is undergoing major growth and transformation. Today, more than 2.9 million students are enrolled across 72 universities, over 200 engineering schools, 220 business and management schools, and dozens of specialist art and architecture institutions. The number of students has doubled since 1980, reflecting both the demand and the ambition of France’s academic landscape. Amid this expansion, one project stands out: Campus Condorcet in northern Paris, an ambitious hub for the social sciences and humanities. Unlike a traditional university or school, it is designed as a collaborative space where 11 founding institutions. In this episode, Professor Pierre-Paul Zalio, president of Campus Condorcet talks about breaking down barriers between institutions, fostering collaboration, and advising the French president as part of the new Presidential Council for Science.

The wild boar snare is a hunting device that indiscriminately traps, mangles, and often kills unsuspecting victims. Such victims include stray cats and dogs, but also protected species such as Formosan black bears, Taiwanese leopard cats, and more. Even humans have been injured by such traps. Taiwan's Animal Protection Act bans the use of snares, but manufacturing and selling them is a gray area, and they remain being sold across the internet and local stores. Dr. Chengheng Hu joined the Taiwan One Ecology Colation (TOEC), a team of 12 different organizations, to fight against the snares, and protect animals in Taiwan. For this episode of Formosa Fauna we sit down with Dr. Hu and get an inside look at the basics of the traps, their potential cultural significance, and why a petition with over 10,000 signatures wasn't enough to comprehensively ban them in  Taiwan. In the final episode of Oh, I didn't know that, we continue to explore the critical situation of the Taiwanese white dolphin, a unique subspecies facing imminent extinction. Through insights from John Wang (王愈超), the leading expert who has been researching these dolphins for many years, this episode touches on the various threats these dolphins face, including habitat loss, pollution, and the impact of human activities, and also what can be done to help the dolphin population.
