Once a stray, this cat is now much more. Meet the Honorary Station Master Mikan. Her cute movements and appearance have helped her amass a large fanbase of people who are eager to meet her in person.
For Lunar New Year Mikan put on a stylish festive outfit, attracting even more visitors. Mikan is mostly spotted at the Ciaotou Sugar Refinery station along the Kaohsiung Metro, but she’s not the only station cat in the area.
The energetic black cat named Hsuan-bao (玄寶) is one of three cats that started frequenting Xinzuoying Station as strays. After a member of the cleaning staff adopted them, they were welcomed into the space to play and help look after nearby shops. Some shops say the cats even help attract customers.
Xinzuoying Station Deputy Station Master Kuo Hung-yang (郭宏洋) says the station revamped some extra space into a play area for stray cats, welcoming them to return and providing them with a warm home.
Whether it’s for the cat-adoring travelers, shop owners, or the lucky strays, the arrangement is nothing short of purr-fect.
